Halloween Special: Ms. Scianna's Spooky Story Contest Winners

"The Doll"

By: Bella Almaraz, Courtney Chrysty, & Ava Scialabba

Once upon a spooky time, there was a young girl named Amelia. On Amelia’s birthday, her mother took her to American Girl Doll. As she glances at all the pretty dolls, she finds one that catches her eyes. The most perfect doll you can imagine, long blonde hair, big beautiful blue eyes, and the cutest pink dress.

She insistently picks her up and says, “Mommy this is the one!”

They bring the doll up to the counter and the cashier looks horrified. The man says, “WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT DOLL?” in a deep, terrifying voice.

The girl answers frighteningly, ”Um… on the top shelf? Why do you seem so worried?”

The man explains that the doll is not for sale and the little girl starts to sob in her hands. After the crying does not stop, the man caves in and sells the doll to Amelia with one word of advice, “Not to sleep with it in her room”.

Amelia thought this was crazy advice and she planned to sleep with it the first night of buying it. Amelia gets home and is showing off her new doll to all her friends and family. Time goes by and it is now bedtime. Amelia’s mom reminds her not to sleep with the doll as the cashier gave them the advice. Amelia disregards the advice and puts the doll in her bed to sleep with her when her mom goes back into her own room.

In her deep slumber, the doll wakes her up with a sudden movement. Amelia wakes up in total shock to check on the doll, but the doll is sound asleep next to her. She then does not sleep until she hears the movement again to figure out what it was.

As Amelia was about to shut her eyes out of exhaustion of waiting to see the movement, the doll starts crawling up the wall, giggling. Then after Amelia sees this sight, she screams and the doll whips down and covers her mouth so it does not wake up the parents. The doll’s long blonde hair turned black, her eyes were full of red, and once was her beautiful dress that turned into a scary mess. Amelia is screaming, but the screams are faded with the doll’s hand over her mouth.

The doll won’t let go until she is done terrorizing Amelia saying, “I was once a little girl like you with a doll like me. One day you will end up like me, terrorizing little girls like you who don’t follow specific instructions.”

The doll turns Amelia into a doll like her with her laser, red eyes. Amelia slowly shrinks and becomes stiff with scary features of her own. Her mother wakes up in the morning to find Amelia not in the bed, but two dolls.

After years of searching and calling for Amelia, there is no show and they think she is gone forever. As Amelia’s mom is collecting her belongings, she decides to return not just one of the dolls, but both of them to the same shop the first one was bought at. The dolls are put on the shelf to be sold to the next poor girl.

The End.

"The Tunnel"

By: Maeve, Miranda, & Ashley

There once was a tunnel built long ago, in which nuns walked through to get to the convent. This tunnel is now closed, and a school now hovers over it. It’s name is Resurrection. Dun Dun Dun. There had always been creepy encounters with this tunnel with the students who attend Resurrection. Maeve, Ashley and Miranda decided to go figure out the secrets that lie beneath.

One Friday night after school concluded for the day Maeve, Ashley and Miranda hatched a plan to search the nun tunnel and uncover the secrets that lie within. We packed our flashlights and a jacket and set out. We broke into the school by stealing Ms. Angelini’s set of keys during the school day and waltzing right in. Not turning on any lights or making any noises, we got in without a trace.

We now approach the nun tunnel and shivers rush down our spines. We decide that we need to know what is down there. Miranda opens the door and shines the flashlight in only reporting of cobwebs and dust. Once we get in the tunnels, we observe that there are 3 different paths. First to the left, one through the middle and one off to the right. Ashley thinks that they should go left, Miranda right, and Maeve through the middle. What do we do now?

They all think splitting up is a bad idea but proceed splitting up anyways. Crunch! Maeve turns around but there is nothing there. Ashley books it for the end. Miranda carefully observes around her, scared to keep moving forward. Once Ashley reaches what looks like the end there's another path. Miranda hears Maeve’s scream and turns around to go find the middle path. With her hands over her eyes peeking out she’s looking for Maeve. She walks down the whole path, and Maeve is nowhere to be found, just her flashlight still facing sideways with the light reflecting off the wall of her path. Miranda freaks out running down the path and going to find Ashley, but can’t see her path but stops in her tracks because she sees a dark, large, shadowy figure getting bigger. She shrieks.

Ashley hears the shriek and runs to find her. Miranda’s flashlight is found where she stopped and like Maeve’s facing the wall. Miranda and Maeve are nowhere to be found. Ashley runs for the exit to the tunnel, it’s locked. She realizes that there are words now written on the door that say, “You’ll never escape” “You won’t find them” “Run”.

Ashley gets locked in the tunnels forever. Time goes on and Ashley never escapes. The ghost of Ashley is known to still haunt the halls of Resurrection still trying to find a way out. No one till this day has tried to unlock the door, in fear that they will never be let out. If you go to the tunnel at night you can still see the little light left by Maeve's and Miranda's flashlights.
